WELCOME TO THE WEST AREA - Pleasant Valley, Indian Heights, Kissing Camels, Holland Park
West Colorado Springs is located west of downtown and east of Manitou Springs, in the foothills of the mountains. There are a variety of homes, offering a unique blend of housing options. Homes vary from compact 1950's style ranchers to the opulent homes of the golf course community of Kissing Camels that overlooks the Garden of The Gods. This area is home to Kissing Camels and Garden of the Gods Country Clubs which have spectacular views of the mountains and Garden of the Gods Park. There is something here for almost everyone from the wonders of nature, to the pleasures of a beautiful afternoon on the links. All you need to do is choose!
Areas west of Interstate 25 from Garden of the Gods on the north to roughy Highway 24 on the south are generally referred to as the Westside. There are very distinct neighborhoods in this area. Old Colorado Historic District is full of old shops, Victorian homes, and older, smaller homes that have been lovingly cared for. The prices range from $75,000 to more then $300,000 for some turn-of-the-century homes on quiet streets lined with large trees.
There is also an exclusive, gated community called Kissing Camels, which lies atop the mesa and features its own golf course and country club. Homes in this neighborhood run in the high six figures. Kissing Camels Golf Club is located just to the east of Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods.
The Garden of the Gods 10-Mile Run?, as part of the Triple Crown, has it all -- a spectacular setting, a physically demanding course, competition in most every age group, excellent runner support, unique finisher medals and great shirts. This is one of the most beautiful and challenging race venues anywhere! Year 2003 marks the 27th consecutive year for the running of this magnificent race and it will be the first leg of the 2003 Triple Crown Series -- three terrific races in the Pikes Peak region that will challenge and delight you from June through mid-August! Or, you can just emjoy a leisurely walk through the magnificance of the park.
The Garden of The Gods has 20 Rock formations, 8 miles of trails, picnic areas, rock climbing, and a scenic drive. There are towering sandstone rock formations against a backdrop of snow-capped Pikes Peak and brilliant blue skies. Thats the view from the beautiful Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center terrace. This free center is the gateway to Garden of the Gods City Park. Here, the geology, ecology and cultural history of the area spring to life.
