WELCOME TO SOUTHEAST AND SOUTHWEST DOUGLAS, EL PASO, ELBERT, EASTERN PARK, AND TELLER COUNTIES VACANT LAND

Southeast and Southwest Douglas County: Douglas County is strategically located between Colorado's two largest cities: Denver and Colorado Springs. Approximately 80% of its workforce commutes to jobs and offices in these urban centers. In order to provide local employment opportunities, and to diversify its tax base, the County actively plans for, and pursues, well-managed, quality commercial development. The County's strength, comes from a perfect blend of quality lifestyle and business environment. To preserve the area's natural environment, 70% of the corridor between Denver and Colorado Springs will retain agricultural, ranching, parks, and open space uses. Recreational facilities include over 146,000 acres of Pike National Forest, two state parks (Roxborough and Castlewood Canyon), a state recreation area (Chatfield), and numerous county, municipal, and local parks, trails, and open spaces. The pioneer spirit and eternal beauty of the mountains, foothills, and plains remain in Douglas County.

El Paso County: El Paso County lies in east central Colorado , and encompasses more than 2,158 square miles (slightly more than twice the area of the entire state of Rhode Island). While the western portion of El Paso County is extremely mountainous, the eastern part is prairie land where dairy cows and beef cattle are the main source of ranchers' income. The altitude ranges from about 5,095 feet on the southern border at Black Squirrel Creek to 14,110 feet on the summit of Pikes Peak, near the western boundary. The natural physical beauty of the area, situated at the base of Pikes Peak and with an uninterrupted view of the Front Range, inspired Katharine Lee Bates to write the poem "America the Beautiful" after her visit here. The mild climate, on average, supplies 285 days of sunshine, 15 inches of rain, 35 inches of snow, and very low levels of humidity.

Elbert County: Elbert County is a lovely, sparsely populated area located in central Colorado, just south east of Denver. Many of Elbert County's residents work in Denver or the suburbs and make a short commute. The area is made up primarily of ranch land and farms, with gently rolling grasslands and plenty of wild life. The county seat is in Kiowa, named after the Kiowa Indians in the mid 1850's. Kiowa is the home of the Kiowa Cowboy Up Rodeo and Elbert County Fair. The county fair offers a variety of arts and crafts, animals, and rodeo events. The town presents a sleepy image with plenty of country charm that hasn't changed much over the years. The largest town is Elizabeth which was founded in 1890 and is 6,450 feet above sea level. Most of the population of Elbert County is located around the town of Elizabeth in small acreage subdivisions. Elizabeth is the home of the Elizabeth Stampede , a PRCA Rodeo held in early June. In addition to great rodeo events, there are many other activities such as summer music festivals.

Eastern Park County: Minutes away from world class skiing at Breckenridge Ski Area, Keystone Resort, Copper Mountain, Arapahoe Basin and Vail Resort. Countless trails for hiking and mountain biking are our backyards. Beautiful South Park, a high country plateau spreading between encircling mountains at an average elevation of 9500 feet above sea level, boasts some of the most beautiful scenery in Colorado in the largest county with the very least population (just 14000) to offer privacy and an abundance of wildlife -- herds of Elk, Antelope, Deer, Rocky Mountain Sheep and Buffalo. You will see Coyotes, Bears, Bobcats, Cougars and Lynx on rare occasions, along with a plethora of red fox, brown fox, squirrels, raccoons, prairie dogs, gophers, rabbits, other small game, and multitudes of birds! Excellent lake fishing is available at Tarryall Reservoir, Spinney Mountain Reservoir, Eleven-Mile Reservoir, Jefferson Lake and Antero Reservoir, along with great stream fishing throughout the county.

Teller County: Teller County begins 20 miles West of Colorado Springs and is accessed via State Highway 24 West. It is almost directly in the center of the State of Colorado at elevations ranging from 8,000 feet in Woodland Park to over 14,000 on the back side of Pikes Peak. Gold was discovered in Cripple Creek, which is the Teller County seat, in 1890 by cowboy and part time prospector, Bob Womack. This discovery forever changed the area which was to become Teller County. The value of the gold mined in Teller County is greater than all other gold mining operations ever conducted in the United States combined. Towering pines, quaking aspens, small lakes and streams, and a magnificent view of Pikes Peak characterize this mountainous area. Towns are small and quaint with personalities as varied as "almost ghost" town to "sleepy mountain" town, to "tourist" town to last but not least "gambling" town.
